The Role:

Ticketmaster’s Core Ticketing Services (CTS) team is leading the way by innovating the methodology that data IO works for our platform which is the foundation for all the amazing products and features that Ticketmaster is using to change the industry.  CTS uses streaming technologies as well as rich APIs to connect new technology to existing and data to the world.

The team develops and supports various back-end technologies.  As the Engineering Manager for the team you will be responsible for the day-day activities and driving the Product roadmap and schedule while reporting to a local Director of Software Engineering.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Mentor, coach and implement Agile practices for existing and greenfield applications for both seasoned and junior engineers
  • Lead a team of our Core Ticketing Services into the future using new technologies such as AWS, Kafka, and others
  • Collaborate with various business owners and define product specifications and expected outcomes.   
  • Collaborate, guide, review and approve engineering designs and implementation.
  • Lead and organize the team to meet Product roadmaps and commitments to ensure that the that deliver the highest value
  • Nerd out with code
  • Set and manage uptime, system responsiveness, and other key metrics.
  • Retain a team of highly skilled IT professionals that are well aligned in their understanding of both company and departmental objectives, direct and evaluate their work, and provide feedback and guidance to ensure skills remain relevant.
  • Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and creating reports, enforcing governance, and contribute to decisions concerning the product.

What you need to be successful in this role:

  • Proven ability to build, recruit, and lead technical development and support organizations.  Deep desire to continuously improve with an eye for delivering value.
  • Deep experience with AWS and cloud-based infrastructure and systems.
  • Knowledge of complex, mission-critical architectures and best-practices
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Experience leading software development teams utilizing Agile processes and software development tools including Java, Kafka, build pipelines, monitoring & alerting, Docker, Kubernetes, SQL and NoSQL.
  • Practical experience in supporting and developing business-critical applications.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems or equivalent experience.
  • Background in object-oriented application design, development and debugging required.
  • Must have excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously and possess the demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities in business-driven product lifecycles.
