The Role:

Ticketmaster's Technical Operations team is responsible for implementing cutting edge cloud infrastructure and centralized platform systems that power Ticketmaster products.  Because of our 40+ year history, the Technical Operations team also maintains a variety of systems from different technological eras but constantly works to evolve the company forward, leading the way with best practices.

In this role, we are seeking an experienced technical manager who knows systems engineering, infrastructure, and software development practices to lead a group of talented engineers working on developer-facing platform tooling and applications.  Application developers will be your customer, so you must know how to delight these folks.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Collaborate with various business owners and define product specifications and expected outcomes
  • Set and manage uptime, system responsiveness, and other key metrics
  • Architect systems for high availability and disaster recovery across multiple regions and availability zones
  • Establish on-call rotations for critical systems
  • Direct, review and approve engineering designs and implementations
  • Ensure team delivery of documentation, education, and support of platform systems for application developers
  • Coordinate work across multiple teams that are impacted by system changes
  • Attract and retain a team of highly skilled IT professionals that are well aligned in their understanding of both company and departmental objectives, direct and evaluate their work, and provide feedback and guidance to ensure skills remain relevant
  • Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and creating reports, enforcing governance, and contribute to decisions concerning technical operations

What you need to be successful in this role:

  • Proven ability to build, recruit, and lead technical management and development of software systems and infrastructure
  • Past experience in a Linux Systems Administration role, a technical operations role, or similar experience or ability to demonstrate leading technical folks in operations.
  • Experience with AWS and cloud-based infrastructure and systems. 
  • Knowledge of complex, mission-critical architectures and best-practices.
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Experience leading software development teams utilizing Agile processes and software development tools in both strongly typed and dynamically typed languages
  • Practical experience in supporting and developing business critical applications.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems or equivalent experience.
  • Past experience in object-oriented application design, development and debugging required.
  • Must have excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously and possess the demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities in business-driven product lifecycles.
